Objectives
INNO4GRID aims to develop innovative control and operation tools that enable the reliable integration of renewable energy into Europe’s electricity grids.
The project pursues the following key objectives:
Develop an Interoperable Grid Workbench
Create a modular and scalable platform integrating advanced software tools and hardware assets for future electricity network operation.Improve Grid Monitoring
Enhance wide-area situational awareness through real-time monitoring, advanced sensing technologies and improved grid observability.Advance AI-Based Forecasting
Develop intelligent forecasting models for renewable generation, electricity demand and grid operating conditions to support proactive decision-making.Enable Dynamic Security Assessment
Provide real-time system security assessment and contingency analysis to improve operational resilience under high renewable penetration.Strengthen TSO–DSO Coordination
Develop interoperable coordination mechanisms that improve information exchange, operational planning and flexibility management between transmission and distribution system operators.Unlock Distributed Flexibility
Enable the efficient participation of distributed energy resources, battery storage, electric vehicles and demand response in grid operation.Demonstrate Innovative Solutions
Validate the developed technologies through four demonstration clusters representing diverse European electricity systems and operational environments.Support European Climate Goals
Contribute to achieving Europe’s renewable energy and decarbonisation targets while improving grid reliability, efficiency and resilience.
